Craziness! ozgolith sent me a link to Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, as a possible place for the wedding... normal's cousin got married here a few years ago, but oddly enough, I can one up that...

As I was browsing the site, a name jumped out at me, the architect, Henry Hornbostle... Hornbostle is my mother's maiden name, and well, how many Hornbostles do you know? I figured I must be related to this person... I don't know much family history so I had to call and check with my mom...

Well, it turns out, he was my great-grandfather! Whoa, holy unexpected!!! How freaking cool is that? Pretty cool in my book, since I'm a whore for nice architecture and history... He also designed Emory University... There's even a freaking book about him!



Crazy, I tell you! My mom was pretty excited to find this out too, and said 'her heart would sing if I got married there'.

Callenwolde is gorgeous...rare local example of mock-tudor. It's publically (under-)funded, so parts of it need to be restored, but most of the main house is in good shape. There's a beautiful fountain out back in view of the main hall.

For the most part it's a fine arts school. I go for chamber music parties several times a year. The in-house caterers are *excellent*.
